a father's day salute

Father’s Day Salute-Chumming The Waters-Podcast #124

I was so amazed how God dropped a word in the middle of the night that became a Father’s Day. salute.

He is so faithful.

The other night I woke up to Holy Spirit saying…”Theresa, you need to chum the water right now.”

That may sound real strange to you but it had a few meanings to me which He–Holy Spirit–gently explained to me. One was very personal in regards to some personal issues which I’m still processing.father's day salute

One of those thoughts concerned a memory involving my dad.

First things first…You may need a reference to where this word—“chumming” comes from.

Bird enthusiasts often “chum the waters” by dumping fish to attract seagulls and other sea birds that they, then, try to identify.

But this meaning to me “chum the waters” or chumming means dumping bait or something into the waters to attract fish.

It brought back the precious memories I have of fishing with my dad. I loved going fishing with him….So I have this one memory of bait fishing at “Crawfish Lake” in Washington State. My family with my four brothers and mom and dad were able to stay at this lake in an old log cabin owned by my Aunt and Uncle. Some of my best memories of summer where there by this small lake. Dad taught me how to fish.

So, when we bait fish, he’d chum the water with corn to attract the trout we were trying to catch on our baited hooks. (He also taught me how to fly fish).

So, the thought of “chumming the water” brought a swell of emotions with such great memories of my dad. He passed at the young age of 48 from cancer.

A Father’s Day Salute Episode

I share some great memories in my latest podcast…The Kingdom Mentor Podcast.

But there was another meaning I felt Holy Spirit had for me to share with you.

So simple yet so profound.

He told me I could SPEAK…use my voice…to chum the waters that had come muddy and stagnant during this time. This reminded me again of the phrase I wrote years ago from the Vinedresser:

“You are the much needed salt to a world which has lost it’s appetite for a loving meal at the Father’s Table.”—Listen to the Vinedresser

So, I thought this was a great word picture which we could activate today. I also share with you how I saw my dad do this as a Banker working in the marketplace, chumming the water with kindness, love, and prayer drawing people to want to know more about God.

father's day saluteLet’s chum the waters…

Speak and declare HIS goodness and mercy.

Show and be a voice that chums the water by your good deeds, giving, speaking peace, and demonstrating 1 Corinthians 13…of love, joy, peace, goodness…

You can use YOUR VOICE to chum the waters displaying the Father’s Heart raising up sons and daughters to the Kingdom of God. In your display of chumming the water, I believe you will be releasing His glory with such power and magnificence that will continue to affect lives for generations.

I think you get the idea.

In the House of Wine,

Theresa
